BANDUNG – As the year 1446 H came to a close, on Thursday (June 26, 2025), Islamic Relief Indonesia, on behalf of Islamic Relief Palestine, and DT Peduli signed a collaboration agreement to support 100 orphans in Gaza, Palestine. The signing ceremony took place at the Daarut Tauhiid (DT) Islamic Boarding School in Bandung.

The event was attended by KH. Abdullah Gymnastiar (Aa Gym), founder and spiritual leader of Daarut Tauhiid, along with members of DT Peduli Foundation and LAZ DT Peduli. From the Islamic Relief team, attendees included Abdullah Hehamahua (Board of Trustees), Dr. Moch Jassin (Chairman of the Supervisory Board), Prof. Mohammad Said (Chairman of the Sharia Supervisory Board), and KH Inayatullah Hasyim (Chairman of LAZ Foundation).

During the event, Aa Gym symbolically handed over a donation of IDR 1,612,000,000 to Abdullah Hehamahua. This donation will fund the living expenses of 100 orphans in Gaza for one full year, specifically those living in refugee camps under the care of Islamic Relief Palestine. In response, Islamic Relief Indonesia presented the names and profiles of the 100 Gaza orphans who will now be sponsored by the DT Peduli Foundation.

Nanang Subana Dirja, CEO of Islamic Relief Indonesia, explained that their organization is part of the larger Islamic Relief Worldwide network, which operates in over 40 countries, including Palestine.

“Islamic Relief has been present in Palestine for 30 years. We’ve stood with the people of Gaza and the West Bank through the most difficult times, including the current escalation, which has turned into a genocide,” Nanang said.
He added, “Currently, we regularly sponsor 17,000 orphans in Palestine. Sadly, 118 of them have lost their lives due to Israeli bombings. Additionally, over 6,000 more children are still waiting to be sponsored. Alhamdulillah, today we are officially handing over 100 orphan profiles to Daarut Tauhiid to be sponsored by DT Peduli.”

Nanang further explained that the funds from DT Peduli will be offset by Islamic Relief Worldwide and disbursed directly to each orphan in the form of e-cash cards. These cards can be used by the orphans’ guardians (typically mothers) to purchase essential items from designated kiosks or withdraw cash (if ATMs are available).

This system is made possible through a partnership between Islamic Relief Worldwide and the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP). If an orphan passes away during the sponsorship period, their allocated funds will automatically be transferred to a new orphan in need.

Aa Gym reminded all participants to always return to Allah SWT, recognizing that everything happens by His will and all deeds will be accounted for on the Day of Judgment. He urged everyone not to remain silent in the face of the suffering of Palestinian children.

For those entrusted by donors to care for these children, Aa Gym emphasized the importance of sincerity, trustworthiness, and perseverance to gain Allah’s pleasure and succeed in the final reckoning.

Muhammad Iskandar, Chairman of the DT Peduli Foundation, added that DT Peduli has previously built a mosque and a water treatment facility in Gaza with a daily capacity of hundreds of thousands of liters. This water facility continues to operate today and remains a vital source of clean water for Gaza’s residents.
