JAMBI — At just 15 years old, Calista Putri Wandira spends her days within the confines of a hospital room, while most teenagers are busy enjoying their carefree school days. Since the age of three, she has bravely faced two life-threatening illnesses—lupus and a severe kidney infection.
Lupus is no ordinary illness; it is a chronic autoimmune disorder in which the body’s immune system mistakenly attacks its own organs. For Calista, the battle means enduring constant pain, exhaustion, and inflammation that affects her skin, joints, and kidneys.
Despite her fragile condition, Calista continues to fight with unwavering spirit. Every Monday and Thursday, her small body must undergo routine dialysis. In addition, she receives vitamin injections, takes daily medication, and attends regular medical checkups at Dr. Mohammad Hoesin Central Hospital in Palembang, South Sumatra.
Yet, behind her physical limitations, Calista’s radiant smile never fades. She holds on to the hope of recovery—dreaming of returning to school, reuniting with her friends, and making her parents proud.
Moved by her determination, DT Peduli Jambi delivered medical assistance directly to Calista’s home in Talang Banjar Subdistrict, East Jambi, on Friday (October 3, 2025).
The aid covered dialysis expenses, medications, vitamins, and transportation for hospital visits. According to Nur Asiah, Head of the DT Peduli Jambi Representative Office, this initiative reflects the organization’s commitment to supporting those battling chronic health conditions.
“DT Peduli Jambi remains committed to being present for the community—not only in times of crisis but also throughout long-term struggles like Calista’s. We strive to be part of every story of hope for recovery and a better life,” said Nur Asiah.
The support brought relief and renewed strength to Calista’s family. Her father, Hendrik, expressed heartfelt gratitude, choosing to remain optimistic through this difficult journey.
“We are deeply grateful. Allah has shown us a way to continue treating our daughter so she can recover and be healthy again. Thank you to DT Peduli Jambi for your assistance—our burden feels lighter, and we no longer feel alone in this struggle. May Allah reward all DT Peduli donors and the Jambi team with blessings and optimal health. Ameen,” said Hendrik tearfully.
