GAZA, PALESTINE – On the third day of Eid al-Fitr, Tuesday (April 1, 2025), dozens of Baitul Quran DT Gaza students gathered at Daarut Tauhiid Mosque Gaza to enjoy traditional Gazan Eid sweets (Halawiyat) and warm tea.

Despite the cold weather, their laughter and spirit warmed the atmosphere. The event was designed to be a moment of fellowship and motivation for the students in their Qur’an memorization journey, and a chance to reconnect amid Gaza’s ongoing hardships.

Muhammad Nafis (12), one of the students, attended with a bright smile. His home was destroyed in an Israeli airstrike, and he now lives in a small shack with his family. Despite the difficult living conditions, Nafis and the other students continue to attend Qur’an study activities at the mosque with strong enthusiasm.

“Alhamdulillah, we are safe. Thank you to DT Peduli and the donors for providing this meal. It reminds us that we are not alone,” he said.
Sheikh Ismail Fayyad, DT Peduli Gaza representative, explained that the activity was aimed at healing trauma among students while maintaining their consistency in memorizing the Qur’an. He shared that the Baitul Quran program serves as a source of moral support for students who have lost their homes or family members.

“While schools remain closed due to the prolonged war, Daarut Tauhiid Mosque Gaza has become their learning center and emotional refuge. We hope their Qur’an memorization continues to grow, even under these tough conditions. This mosque has become a second home for the students, where they also receive school lessons guided by senior students,” he emphasized.

Gaza continues to struggle under the weight of ongoing Israeli assaults. Even during this year’s Eid al-Fitr, the attacks did not cease, and many children have fallen victim to the violence.

“We are happy to gather here, to motivate each other, and continue memorizing. Here, we feel like family,” shared one of the students.

Sheikh Ismail Fayyad concluded with a heartfelt message as the students returned to their Qur’anic studies, carrying home the belief that every verse they memorize is a small step toward rebuilding a better Gaza.

“They may have lost their worldly possessions, but their determination to reach the light of the Qur’an has never dimmed,” he said.
