BANDUNG — More than 25,000 people from various organizations, institutions, communities, and the broader West Java society gathered at the Islamic Da’wah Center (Pusdai) on Sunday (April 20, 2025), uniting in a massive show of solidarity and prayer for Palestine.

Since dawn, thousands had already participated in congregational prayers, followed by a sermon and guidance from KH. Abdullah Gymnastiar (popularly known as Aa Gym), encouraging the crowd to take part in the humanitarian rally for Palestine.

Aa Gym reminded everyone that the struggle to defend Palestine is not merely a political issue, but a calling of faith and conscience.

“We may not have weapons, but we have prayers. We may not be able to stand physically in Gaza, but Allah can carry all our prayers to them,” Aa Gym emphasized.

The crowd swelled even further after the dawn sermon. They gathered in front of Pusdai and then marched toward Gedung Sate.

The first session of speeches began. Chants demanding freedom for Palestine echoed loudly, slicing through the cool morning air.

“How long will this movement continue? Until Palestine is free. We must make it clear that this is not just a one-day action, but part of an ongoing effort. Palestine has not been defeated because they believe in Allah. And we, too, must never lose faith, never stop praying, and never stop moving,” Aa Gym declared before the sea of supporters.

In front of Gedung Sate, a powerful theatrical performance depicting Palestinian babies without heads was staged, deeply touching the crowd’s conscience. Maemon Herawati led the crowd in heartfelt prayers for Palestine.

The atmosphere turned silent during the prayers. Many wept, envisioning the tragic fate of Palestinian children—some who had died nameless, and others even without their heads.

The third session of speeches took place at Gedung Merdeka, where the event concluded with a formal statement expressing their stance on the situation in Palestine.

The statement contained 11 key points, including the condemnation of Israel’s military aggression against Palestine, demands to end violence and occupation, support for Palestinian independence, a call for stronger action from the United Nations, appeals for opening humanitarian access to Gaza, and a call to boycott products affiliated with Israel.

“May every step we take, every prayer we offer, and every voice we raise today become part of the wave of change toward a more just, free, and compassionate world,” Heri proclaimed, ending with the rallying cry of takbir (Allahu Akbar).

With the spirit of solidarity and compassion for Palestine, the crowd dispersed peacefully. But their concern and commitment continue—through prayers, advocacy, and ongoing support.
