MALANG – DT Peduli held a regular development program for recipients of the Khadimul Ummah Student Scholarship on Wednesday (20 August 2025). The session, presented by Ustaz Nurul Azhar, was conducted in a reflective atmosphere with active participation from all students. This initiative is part of DT Peduli’s commitment to equipping scholarship recipients with a deeper understanding of Islamic knowledge, preparing them to become future servants of the community.

The theme of the session was “Fiqh of Zakat”, based on the classical text Al-Tadzhib fi Adillat Matn al-Ghayah wa al-Taqrib, a key reference in the Shafi’i school of jurisprudence. The material covered laws, requirements, and nisab (minimum threshold) of zakat, as well as the principles of management and distribution in line with Islamic teachings.

Students were highly engaged throughout the lecture, with lively discussions taking place. Many raised questions on how zakat is applied in the modern era, including contemporary issues such as zakat on digital currencies (crypto). This reflects their growing interest in understanding zakat comprehensively and contextually.

“Alhamdulillah, the fiqh of zakat session has broadened my understanding, especially as my academic background is not in religious studies,” said Wijaya, one of the scholarship students.

Through this program, DT Peduli aims not only to provide financial support through scholarships but also to nurture the intellectual and spiritual capacity of students. This reflects DT Peduli’s commitment to fostering future leaders with integrity and noble character.

The program is expected to help shape a generation of young people with sound knowledge of Islamic principles who can bring greater benefit to society, particularly in the fields of dakwah (Islamic outreach) and social empowerment.
