‘Rumah Tumbuh’: A New Hope for Permanent Housing in Nyalindung After Disaster

SUKABUMI – A new ray of hope is rising for residents of Nyalindung Village, Sukabumi Regency, after their homes were destroyed by a devastating landslide. Construction of Rumah Tumbuh (Expandable Homes), initiated by DT Peduli Sukabumi, is now progressing rapidly to provide permanent housing solutions for affected families.

The DT Peduli Sukabumi team has been directly overseeing the construction process to ensure that the project meets quality standards, addresses the needs of the community, and is completed on schedule.

“These permanent houses are designed as a long-term solution. With the ‘Rumah Tumbuh’ concept, families can expand their homes in the future according to their financial capacity. This way, the homes are not only liveable but also flexible for future growth,” explained Gina Muharram, Program Staff of DT Peduli Sukabumi, on Wednesday (13 August 2025).

The construction is targeted for completion by the end of August 2025. “We are committed to maintaining the quality, ensuring the homes truly meet the residents’ needs, and enabling families to move into safe and decent housing as soon as possible,” Gina added.

In addition to technical quality, DT Peduli Sukabumi applies environmentally friendly practices and efficient use of building materials to ensure sustainable development. Beneficiaries are also actively involved in the construction process, making them not only recipients but also contributors to the post-disaster recovery effort.

For the residents, these houses bring renewed strength and optimism.

“Alhamdulillah, we are deeply grateful. This house is a new hope to rise again after losing everything to the disaster,” said Ani, one of the beneficiaries.

Through continuous monitoring, DT Peduli Sukabumi remains optimistic that the Rumah Tumbuh project in Nyalindung will be completed on time. These homes are expected to soon become safe, comfortable, and dignified shelters—marking a fresh start for residents as they rebuild their lives with greater peace of mind.
