SUKABUMI, INDONESIA – In a determined effort to revitalize the economy of disaster-affected communities, DT Peduli Sukabumi launched a community-based poultry farming program in Kampung Haji, located in Kertaangsana Village, Nyalindung District, on Wednesday, July 30, 2025.
The initiative is part of a broader economic recovery program funded through public crowdfunding campaigns facilitated by DT Peduli, designed to empower communities in the aftermath of natural disasters.
Kampung Haji was officially established in 2024 as a relocation site for families from Gunung Batu Village, which was devastated in 2019 by a severe land displacement disaster. The tragedy destroyed homes, shops, and agricultural land. Livestock had to be sold off by residents simply to survive, leaving them with little means to rebuild.
Now, with support from DT Peduli, affected residents are slowly regaining their footing through a sustainable economic empowerment approach. The program includes the construction of communal poultry coops, provision of chickens and feed, as well as technical guidance for beneficiary families. It aims to help communities become economically self-sufficient by tapping into the potential of poultry farming.
“This is not just aid. It’s a long-term social investment aimed at restoring livelihoods. Our goal is for communities to become productive, independent, and gradually move away from reliance on emergency aid,” said Bagus Saifullah, DT Peduli Sukabumi field officer, during the distribution activity.
According to Bagus, the initiative offers new hope for families and could become a sustainable source of income while also contributing to household food security.
Deden Mulyana, a program beneficiary, expressed deep gratitude to the donors who supported the effort.
“May Allah bless all the donors who contributed to this noble cause and reward them with abundance,” he said with heartfelt thanks.
This program reflects DT Peduli’s long-standing commitment to not only respond to immediate crises but also empower survivors to thrive, long after the disaster has passed.
