Nurturing Excellent Students, DT Peduli Jakarta Holds Zakat Fiqh Study Session

JAKARTA — DT Peduli Jakarta once again held its Excellent Student Development Program, attended by nine scholarship recipients on Sunday (3/8/2025). This session focused on Zakat Fiqh — an essential topic to strengthen students’ understanding of the concept of zakat, its calculation methods, and the eight categories of zakat beneficiaries (asnaf).

The event began with Qur’an recitation, followed by a review of daily practices (yaumiyah), before entering the main lecture session. The material was delivered by Mr. Agus Tri Wahyudi, a former Waqf Division member of DT Peduli, who explained the subject in a comprehensive yet practical manner, making it easy to grasp and relevant to real-life situations.

“Zakat is not merely an obligation, but also a means to purify wealth and nurture social solidarity,” said Mr. Agus during his lecture.

The Excellent Student Program at DT Peduli Jakarta has been running for nearly a year. Entering August, the program will undergo an evaluation phase that includes exams for first- and second-semester students, as well as group presentations to assess the progress of the mentoring sessions.

Through this initiative, students are expected not only to master the theoretical aspects of zakat but also to apply their knowledge in practice and serve as zakat education ambassadors within their communities.
