SUKABUMI – In a modest home in the remote district of Warungkiara, Sukabumi Regency, lives a man named Endud. Despite being confined by physical limitations since the age of eight due to polio, his spirit and perseverance have made him an inspiring role model.

Born in 1977, Endud was once a cheerful child who loved riding his bicycle. However, at the age of five, he suffered a high fever that became the turning point of his life. Repeated visits to the community health centre brought no recovery. His body grew weaker, his steps faltered, until eventually he could no longer stand. Since then, his world has been limited to his bedroom, yet his heart remains vast—filled with hope and prayer.

Although his body is paralysed, his spirit has never dimmed. From his home, he strives to make a living by trading used mobile phones. More remarkably, his life is rooted in worship. Night prayers (tahajjud) are a habit he never abandons, he observes voluntary fasting with sincerity, and he remains steadfast in seeking religious guidance, especially from KH. Abdullah Gymnastiar, or Aa Gym.

His connection with Daarut Tauhiid Peduli began in 2010, when he became a loyal listener of Aa Gym’s teachings. Three years later, he bravely called into a live radio broadcast to share his story, including the condition of his sister, Teh Isoh, who also suffers from polio in an even more severe state.

The story touched Aa Gym’s heart. He sent one of his students, Dadan Junaedi, to visit Endud. From that moment, a path of compassion was opened. Since 2013, DT Peduli has continuously supported him.

The assistance provided goes beyond material needs—it includes companionship, prayer, and access to healthcare. Since 2017, DT Peduli Sukabumi’s ambulance has visited almost every month to accompany and transport Endud to the hospital.

On Tuesday (25 August 2025), DT Peduli once again accompanied him to RSUD Sekarwangi for a medical examination with neurologist Dr. Dedy Maryanto, Sp.S. This journey was more than just a medical routine—it was a genuine expression of care and compassion.

What moves everyone most is that, despite his condition, Endud has never once complained. He has never asked for more than what is truly necessary. With extraordinary patience, he lives each day, embodying the noble values of Daarut Tauhiid—pantang mengeluh (never complain).

In the midst of his physical struggles, he has risen as a role model. His sincerity, devotion to worship, and steadfast acceptance of destiny inspire anyone who meets him to reflect on their own lives—and to stop complaining about small problems.

Now, in 2025, Endud continues to persevere in his limitations, while DT Peduli remains committed to walking alongside him.

“Endud is a mirror of patience and strong faith. We have learned so much from him,” said one DT Peduli Sukabumi volunteer with teary eyes.

His life is a lesson for us all—that while the body may be limited, the heart and faith can remain free. Gratitude and patience can overcome suffering. And sincerity, no matter how small, can illuminate the lives of others.
