JAKARTA — The drinking water factory in Tuffah, Gaza — built with donations from the people of Indonesia, particularly through DT Peduli — is now in a critical situation after the area was taken over by Israeli forces.
Abdillah Onim, Head of the Nusantara Palestina Center (NPC), reported that the area has been under Israeli control for more than 20 days, with tanks stationed in the vicinity. NPC serves as DT Peduli’s on-ground partner in managing the water factory and distributing aid to the people of Gaza.
“We ask for prayers so that we can receive good news this week. The building is still standing, but we have already evacuated the production equipment and moved it to southern Gaza,” said Abdillah Onim during a meeting at the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) Headquarters in Jakarta, on Tuesday (October 7, 2025).
Although the production tools have been safely relocated, Abdillah expressed deep concern about the fate of the factory building itself.
“We sincerely pray that the building remains untouched by the occupying forces. In shaa Allah, we will soon receive updates on whether it has been destroyed or not. But we keep praying to Allah that the structure stays intact,” he added.
Abdillah also extended heartfelt appreciation to DT Peduli’s donors who contributed to the establishment of the water factory. He hopes that this initiative becomes an everlasting charitable act (amal jariyah) and that the facility will soon resume operations to support Gaza’s essential water needs.
Once operational, the factory is capable of distributing between 10,000 and 50,000 liters of drinking water daily, serving around 1,000 families in Deir el Balah, Gaza City, and North Gaza.
