Full of Smiles: A Joyful Shopping Day for Orphaned Children at Konde Mart

September 28, 2025 | By DT Peduli Yogyakarta Team

BANTUL – Laughter and cheerful faces filled the aisles of Konde Mart, Bantul, on Sunday (28 September 2025). Thirty orphaned children, along with their guardians, gathered for “Happy Shopping with Orphans,” a heartwarming program organized by DT Peduli Yogyakarta. The event was filled with moments of joy, gratitude, and shared happiness.

Unlike ordinary days, this time the children were given a special opportunity—to personally choose the items they needed. From school supplies and new clothes to personal necessities, they enthusiastically explored the store, consulting their guardians and smiling brightly each time they found something they truly wanted.

“I’m so happy to shop for myself! Usually, my school things are given to me by others, but today I get to choose what I like. Thank you, DT Peduli—it feels like a dream!” said Tirta, one of the participants, her eyes sparkling with excitement.

What made the day even more special was that DT Peduli Yogyakarta also provided shopping vouchers for the parents. They were not just companions but part of the joy themselves.

“Usually at events like this, only the children receive the chance to shop. But today, I was able to join in and feel happy too. Thank you so much to DT Peduli for caring about us,” expressed Murjiasih, Tirta’s mother, her eyes glistening with tears of gratitude.

For DT Peduli, the program is more than just a charitable act—it’s about creating meaningful experiences that strengthen the bond between children and their parents. Yaraa, a representative from the DT Peduli Yogyakarta team, shared that bringing happiness to orphaned children is the heart of this initiative.

“We want to create space for children to experience simple joys while also sharing happiness with their parents, who always stand by their side. Seeing them smile together makes us feel that our mission is fulfilled,” Yaraa said warmly.

The event concluded with a collective prayer and a cheerful photo session. For many families, it was not merely a shopping day—it was a meaningful moment that strengthened hearts, renewed spirits, and reminded everyone that even small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
