From Ruins to Hope: Landslide Victims in Nyalindung Receive Eco-Friendly Homes

September 10, 2025 | By Gyn

SUKABUMI – DT Peduli has officially handed over two permanent recycling houses to families in Nyalindung Village, Sukabumi, on Tuesday (10 September 2025). Among the beneficiaries is Ani, whose home was nearly destroyed by land movement. Today, she can finally breathe a sigh of relief with a safe and sturdy place to live.

The houses were built using Toho Panel, an innovative construction material made from recycled styrofoam, mixed with rice husks, palm fibre, and cement. Strong, lightweight, and environmentally friendly, this solution reflects the integration of sustainability and humanitarian care.

The inauguration was attended by the Village Head of Nyalindung, Asep Supriadi; community security officers; local youth organisations; hamlet leaders; and representatives of DT Peduli West Java.

“We sincerely thank DT Peduli for providing safe and decent housing for our residents. May this kind of innovation continue and become a real solution for other villages facing similar challenges.”

Muchamat Zusuf, Head of DT Peduli’s West Java Office, emphasised the organisation’s ongoing commitment:

“This house is more than just a shelter—it is a symbol of hope. Through the recycle house concept, we want to show that caring for people can go hand in hand with caring for nature.”

DT Peduli hopes this initiative will serve as a model for simple housing development in disaster-prone areas and regions with limited access to conventional building materials.
