Facing an Extreme Crisis, DT Peduli Distributes Clean Water and Bread to Palestinian Refugees in Syria

BANDUNG — Through its international humanitarian program, DT Peduli distributed 50 gallons of drinking water and 100 packages of Khubz bread (each containing 8 pieces) to Palestinian refugees in the Jabal Zawiyya region of Syria on Tuesday (October 21, 2025).

The ongoing humanitarian crisis has severely affected the lives of Palestinian refugees in Syria. Since the waves of displacement in the 1940s to 1960s, hundreds of thousands of Palestinians have sought refuge in Syria due to its geographical proximity and relative accessibility for protection.

Today, most of these refugees live in extreme poverty, heavily dependent on aid for basic survival. The scarcity of food, clean water, and healthcare has made every act of assistance a lifeline.

“Decades ago, the victims of the Nakba tragedy fled to neighboring countries such as Jordan, Lebanon, and also northern Syria. We must not become indifferent or forget the suffering of our Palestinian brothers and sisters who live outside Gaza,” said F. Arif, Assistant Manager for International Humanitarian Affairs at DT Peduli.

Living conditions in the refugee areas remain dire. Limited access to clean drinking water and food has left families vulnerable to dehydration, malnutrition, and disease. The provision of clean water and basic bread aims to help meet their essential needs and sustain their lives amid ongoing hardship.

The aid distribution was carried out directly to the most vulnerable families — prioritizing children, mothers, and the elderly. This initiative represents the compassion of the Indonesian people toward Palestinians enduring prolonged hardship, far from their homeland.

Through this action, DT Peduli calls upon the public to continue strengthening global solidarity and empathy across borders. In times of crisis, even a small gesture of care can bring immense hope to those struggling to survive.

“This program is DT Peduli’s humble effort to assist Palestinian refugees in Syria. May we continue to help and honor our brothers and sisters who have suffered for decades due to conflict,” concluded Arif.
