METRO – DT Peduli Lampung continues its empowerment initiatives by organizing a tumpeng garnish training at the Inclusive Boarding School of Tri Bakti Al Qudwah Special School (SLB) on Wednesday (4 September 2025). The session, held from 9:00 to 12:00 local time, featured trainer Hada Itana from Pawon Liwet Restaurant.
Seven students with hearing and speech impairments, accompanied by two teachers, participated in the training. They learned how to creatively decorate cucumbers, carrots, and other vegetables to make attractive garnishes.
Beyond creativity, the activity also helped improve students’ fine motor skills. By directly practicing cutting, carving, and arranging vegetables, the children were trained to enhance hand coordination and focus.
Devi Damayanti, a teacher at Tri Bakti Al Qudwah, expressed her gratitude for the initiative:
“The students were very enthusiastic in following each step. Opportunities like this are rare for them, so it not only boosts their learning spirit but also develops their skills,” she said.
One student, through sign language translated by a teacher, also shared his excitement:
“I’m so happy to learn how to decorate vegetables—it turns out they can look so beautiful. I want to try it again at home,” he expressed.
DT Peduli Lampung’s representative, Ranti Suci Lestari, emphasized the broader purpose of the program:
“We want children with disabilities to have equal opportunities to hone their skills, so that in the future they can become independent and confident,” she explained.
This program not only provides new experiences but also equips students with useful skills for their future.
