Empowering People with Disabilities: XL Smart and DT Peduli Host Digital Literacy and Entrepreneurship Training
Participants with disabilities engage in the digital entrepreneurship training session at Darul Hajj, DT Bandung.
BANDUNG – XL Smart, in collaboration with DT Peduli, organized a special program called “Peduli Disabilitas Berdaya” (Empowering Persons with Disabilities) featuring digital literacy and entrepreneurship training for persons with disabilities. The two-day event was held on Monday (16 June 2025) and Tuesday (17 June 2025).
The first day of the training was conducted online, engaging 100 participants with disabilities from various regions across Indonesia. The second day took place offline at Darul Hajj, DT Bandung, attended by 20 participants with physical and hearing impairments from the Greater Bandung area.
The 20 in-person participants—consisting of deaf and physically disabled individuals—enthusiastically engaged in the sessions, particularly those on artificial intelligence for marketing and social media marketing.
“Thank you to DT Peduli for teaching us about social media. We hope that through this training, we, as persons with disabilities, can improve our skills and access our right to learn,” said Galih, a deaf participant, using sign language.
Rizal, a participant with a physical disability who uses a wheelchair, also shared his appreciation. He was delighted to receive training in digital marketing and entrepreneurship. The knowledge, he said, would help grow the business he runs with his wife, selling meatballs (pentol) and crafts made from patchwork fabric.
“Alhamdulillah, I’m very happy and gained new knowledge that I can use in the future. I hope to sell more products and apply what I’ve learned at home,” Rizal said.
Dani Miftahul Akhyar, Head of Corporate Communication and CSR at XL Smart, explained that this activity was part of XL Smart’s commitment to supporting marginalized communities, especially persons with disabilities.
“We are always committed to supporting people with disabilities, and this program is one way to enhance their capacities—in terms of skills, character, and more. Today, together with DT Peduli, we’ve hosted a workshop for deaf and physically disabled friends on digital literacy and how to run a creative and productive digital business,” Dani stated.
He hoped participants would apply the knowledge they received to become more empowered and independent after the training.
“There are four main areas we discussed for entering the digital business world: first, selling physical goods online; second, selling digital products online; third, offering services online; and fourth, creating and monetizing content online. Everyone can do it—regardless of disability. We hope participants will put this into practice after the training,” he explained.
Cecep Gustiawan, Head of Corporate Fundraising at DT Peduli, expressed his gratitude to XL Smart and all partners involved in making Peduli Disabilitas Berdaya a success, including Bloggercrony, PPDI, TIBA Surabaya, and Rumah Karya Konveksi.
He also expressed hope that this collaboration will continue and expand to include more impactful programs for people with disabilities.
“We extend our sincere thanks for this partnership. This is our first joint program, and we hope there will be more in the future. This is how we show our care for our brothers and sisters with disabilities,” said Cecep.
