The program aims to support communities in their long-term recovery.

SUKABUMI, INDONESIA – DT Peduli Sukabumi has distributed canned meat aid and conducted an on-site assessment in the landslide-affected area of Kampung Suradita, Ciengang Village, Gegerbitung District. The assistance was delivered on Thursday (31 July 2025) as a response to a situation that has shown little improvement since the disaster struck in 2021. To this day, 67 households—around 180 people—continue to live in uncertainty without permanent housing.

During the dry season, some residents return to their homes despite being located in high-risk zones, while others stay with relatives. However, emergency tents remain set up, serving as temporary shelters whenever rain falls. This unstable situation forces residents to live in constant uncertainty, while children attend makeshift schools with cement floors and bamboo walls.

Kuswandi, a community representative, voiced his concerns:

“We need more decent temporary housing. In the tents, many residents—especially children and the elderly—fall ill. But relocation efforts are hindered by the unclear status of the designated land.”
Through this distribution and assessment activity, DT Peduli Sukabumi hopes to strengthen collaboration between humanitarian organisations and relevant authorities to secure the basic rights of the survivors, particularly access to safe and healthy housing. DT Peduli Sukabumi calls on the public and stakeholders not to turn a blind eye to the plight of the victims, who continue to struggle amidst uncertainty.
