BARITO KUALA – In an effort to enhance community skills and economic independence, DT Peduli South Kalimantan organised a souvenir-making workshop in Alalak Village, Barito Kuala Regency, on Wednesday (15 October 2025).

The activity was attended by enthusiastic housewives who participated actively from start to finish. The main goal of this initiative was to equip participants—especially women—with practical skills that could be developed into home-based business opportunities.

“Alhamdulillah, we are very happy to join this training. We learned so many new things, and hopefully we can turn them into small businesses at home,” said one of the participants.

During the workshop, participants practiced making various traditional snacks that had the potential to become the village’s signature souvenirs, such as kacang sembunyi (coated peanuts), peyek (crispy peanut crackers), and tapai ketan (fermented sticky rice). The session ran smoothly and was filled with excitement, as participants eagerly followed every step—from preparing ingredients and cooking to packaging the final products.

Beyond improving practical skills, the event also served as an opportunity to strengthen community ties, particularly among women in Alalak Village. Through this program, DT Peduli South Kalimantan reaffirmed its commitment to fostering an entrepreneurial spirit that is independent, creative, and sustainable within rural communities.
