SERANG — Continuing its commitment to character building and practical empowerment, DT Peduli Serang provided technical training for dozens of young Quran memorisers through a Barbershop Skills Workshop held at two different locations on Wednesday (25 October 2025).
The training aimed to equip students with valuable life skills that can support their future independence. The first session was conducted at Rumah Tahfidz Al-Qur’an DT Peduli Serang, located in Griya Serang Indah, and involved participants from Pesantren Al-Furqon.
Fardan Pauzi, Head of DT Peduli Serang Office, explained that the initiative reflects DT Peduli’s holistic approach to education — nurturing both spiritual excellence and practical competency among students.
“Alhamdulillah, this barbershop training was successfully held in two different locations. We extend our gratitude to all donors whose support made this possible. May this program bring benefit to the students and blessings to every contributor,” said Fardan.
The young santri, who usually spend their days memorising the Qur’an, were seen eagerly handling scissors and clippers, learning not only haircut techniques but also service ethics and grooming standards.
Ustadz Furqon, from Pesantren Al-Furqon, expressed his appreciation for the initiative:
“We’re very thankful to DT Peduli Serang and the donors. This program helps our students gain a practical skill that, inshaAllah, can become a future business opportunity within the pesantren,” he said.
The next session took place at Pesantren Al-Baladi, where enthusiasm among the students was equally high. Some even began practising their new skills immediately on their classmates.
“Alhamdulillah, we no longer have to wait for travelling barbers to come by. Now, we can cut our own hair — and even help each other. It’s a truly useful skill,” said Ustadz Sukardi, from Pesantren Al-Baladi.
Through this initiative, DT Peduli Serang reaffirms its mission to foster self-reliance and sustainable livelihood skills among young Quran learners — turning education into empowerment for a better future.
