BANDUNG – DT Peduli has issued a strong call for the immediate and unrestricted opening of humanitarian access in the Gaza Strip. This appeal follows the completion of its Hotmeals program, in which 3,775 portions of warm meals were successfully distributed to 3,775 civilians in Deir Al Balah, Palestine, on Sunday (July 13, 2025) and Monday (July 14, 2025).

The aid distribution took place amid a dramatic deterioration in food security throughout Gaza. Data from the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) confirms that the entire population is facing acute food insecurity (IPC Phase 3 or worse), with hundreds of thousands at risk of famine (IPC Phase 5).

This situation — widely regarded by international observers as the deliberate use of starvation as a weapon of war — calls for urgent and coordinated global action.

“The situation in Gaza is intolerable. Widespread famine is no longer a threat; it is the grim reality faced by millions of civilians. Our Hotmeals program is a tangible attempt to save lives, but the scale of the crisis demands a far greater and more coordinated response. Blocking aid access is a form of war crime,” asserted F. Arif, DT Peduli’s International Program Officer, on Tuesday (July 22, 2025).

DT Peduli also drew attention to the ongoing tragedy near Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) distribution points, which are reportedly supported by the U.S. and Israel. Over 1,021 civilians have reportedly been killed while attempting to receive aid, with more than 6,511 others wounded.

DT Peduli urges all relevant stakeholders to adhere to international humanitarian law, protect the safety of civilians and aid workers, and fully open and maintain humanitarian corridors. Global solidarity and sustained support are crucial to ending the suffering in Gaza.

“The safety of beneficiaries and volunteers must be the top priority. Aid distribution methods that endanger lives are unacceptable,” Arif concluded.
