GAZA – DT Peduli Gaza has distributed fresh vegetables to residents and displaced families living near Daarut Tauhiid (DT) Mosque, located in Deir Balah, Gaza. The humanitarian effort took place on Tuesday afternoon, July 1, 2025, shortly after Asr prayer, and was centered in front of DT Peduli Gaza’s local office, approximately 200 meters from DT Mosque. A total of 350 families benefited from the distribution.

Among the vegetables provided was Molokhia, a leafy green vegetable widely popular in the Middle East known for its impressive health benefits. Also called jute leaves, Molokhia is a nutrient-rich plant packed with fiber, vitamins A, C, and E, as well as iron and powerful antioxidants. In Arab cuisine, it is commonly prepared as a thick, aromatic soup served with rice or bread, making it a beloved dish across many seasons.

Gaza has been under a continuous blockade for over three months, causing a severe food crisis. Prices for necessities have soared beyond the reach of most residents. Through this initiative, DT Peduli aims to ease the burden by providing aid that is not only nutritionally beneficial but also easily prepared and consumed by people of all ages.

In a scene filled with both warmth and resilience, children and adults lined up patiently under the scorching sun, eager to receive the fresh produce. Sheikh Ismail and the DT Peduli Gaza volunteer team coordinated the distribution using a name list to ensure the process was orderly and fair.

Muhammad (45), a resident, supported the volunteers by calling out the names of recipients using his loud voice in place of a megaphone. His face beamed with joy as he welcomed each family with an enthusiastic shout.

“This kind of assistance means so much to us—especially vegetables like Molokhia, which are not only delicious but essential for our families’ health,” said Muhammad.

He also shared his hope that DT Peduli could expand its support with sustainable programs, such as a project to plant 1,000 hydroponic gardens in local households. Such an initiative, he noted, would help boost food self-sufficiency and reduce dependence on external supplies.

Residents around the DT Mosque expressed their deep appreciation and hope that similar aid efforts would continue, especially while the region remains in crisis. The distribution of fresh vegetables is seen as a timely and meaningful response that directly supports the community’s nutritional needs. DT Peduli’s presence continues to shine as a beacon of hope amid adversity, offering relief and dignity amid hardship.
