DT Peduli Breaks Through Blocked Access, Delivers 200 Logistic Aid Packages to 1,000 Flood Victims in Langkat

Tuesday, 3 December 2025 | DT Peduli Team | Langkat, North Sumatra

LANGKAT, INDONESIA — DT Peduli has distributed 200 logistic aid packages to at least 1,000 flood-affected residents in Langkat Regency, North Sumatra, on Tuesday (03/12/2025).

The distribution was carried out under emergency conditions, where the team had to pass through isolated routes and wade through waist-deep water to reach the affected communities.

The aid packages included medicines, ready-to-eat meals, UHT milk, canned bread, baby diapers, and sanitary pads. Distribution points were established in several locations in Tanjung Pura District, including Pekubuan Village, Teluk Bakung Village, and Pematang Sentang Hamlet.

To reach Pekubuan and Teluk Bakung, volunteers transported the logistics using large trucks. In several areas submerged up to waist height, the team even utilized a garbage truck as an alternative vehicle to break through the flooding. Conditions on the ground also revealed ongoing power outages, increasing the challenges for residents who had been sheltering for days.

Even greater obstacles emerged during the delivery to Pematang Sentang Hamlet. Strong water currents forced the team to travel by boat. In addition, the route posed risks of looting, making security a major concern during distribution. Despite these challenges, the team remained committed to ensuring the aid was delivered directly to those in need.

A representative of the Pekubuan evacuees expressed deep gratitude and emotion upon receiving the assistance.

“We, the evacuees in Pekubuan, express our gratitude to everyone who has shown concern for us. We are all suffering right now, and knowing that there are brothers and sisters who care means so much to us. This attention is truly extraordinary,” he said.

He emphasized that the significance of the assistance extended far beyond its material value.

“Please don’t say this is small. For us, this is the biggest support our community has received. We ask for your prayers, and we also pray that you are granted good health in carrying out your duties,” he continued, his voice trembling.

DT Peduli stated that aid distribution will continue in the coming days, as the impact of the flooding is still heavily felt by thousands of residents across the region. The spirit of solidarity is expected to drive collective efforts to accelerate community recovery.
