BEKASI, INDONESIA — In a bid to strengthen the economic self-reliance of the Muslim community, DT Peduli Bekasi has launched the Sate Taichan Joint Business Group (Kelompok Usaha Bersama / Kube) in collaboration with Pesantren Baitul Izzah. This initiative aims to equip santri (Islamic boarding school students) with practical entrepreneurial skills.
The program will involve six selected santri, who will undergo intensive training in both the production and marketing of Sate Taichan—a popular Indonesian grilled chicken skewer dish known for its spicy and tangy flavor. The sale of the finished products is scheduled to begin on Saturday, July 26, 2025.
The choice of Sate Taichan as the business focus is strategic.
“Sate Taichan has a strong market presence in the Greater Jakarta area (Jabodetabek),” said a representative of DT Peduli, highlighting its broad potential for business development.
The program is designed not as a one-off training, but as a long-term empowerment initiative, with DT Peduli committing to a full year of monitoring and mentorship to ensure sustainable business growth and independent management by the santri.
“We are very grateful to DT Peduli. This program truly helps our students gain real entrepreneurial skills,” said Abdul Haris, a representative of Pesantren Baitul Izzah.
Through the Kube Sate Taichan initiative, the santri are expected to gain practical knowledge and confidence to shape a more independent future, while also becoming role models for economic empowerment within their communities.
