DT Peduli Becomes the First to Reach Aceh Tamiang, Opens Community Kitchen and Delivers Aid to Isolated Residents

Wednesday, 3 December 2025 | DT Peduli Team | Aceh Tamiang, Aceh

ACEH TAMIANG — The DT Peduli emergency response team successfully reached Bandar Mahligai Village in Sekerak Subdistrict, Aceh Tamiang Regency, on Wednesday (3 December 2025). The village had been completely isolated since the disaster struck and had not received any assistance from external parties, leaving residents with rapidly depleting basic supplies.

Upon arrival, DT Peduli volunteers immediately distributed emergency relief packages consisting of food staples, hygiene kits, medicines, and other essentials. They also set up a community kitchen to ensure daily meals for survivors. To restore communication and temporary electricity, the team installed satellite internet and operated a generator to provide power to the village.

One of the DT Peduli volunteers—who is also the son-in-law of a local resident—was visibly emotional after confirming that his relatives were safe. He noted that the DT Peduli team was the very first organization to reach the disaster-hit area.

“Alhamdulillah, on this Wednesday, 3 December, we from DT Peduli have finally arrived in Bandar Mahligai Village, Sekerak Subdistrict, Aceh Tamiang Regency. And Alhamdulillah, as a son-in-law of one of the families here, I have found my in-laws safe along with our extended family,” he said with relief.

Despite the positive news, conditions in the village remain critical. Logistics are still extremely limited, clean water is unavailable, and public facilities such as the local mosque remain covered in mud. Residents urgently need cleaning tools and sanitation support to accelerate the recovery of communal spaces.

“No aid has entered until today. DT Peduli is the first team to arrive here. We need support from everyone. Our immediate goal is to ensure that by Friday, the community can perform Friday prayers in a clean and suitable mosque,” he added.

He also called on all parties to join hands with local residents through coordinated support with DT Peduli.

Hope and gratitude were evident among villagers receiving the first wave of assistance. Many expressed short yet heartfelt words of appreciation.

“Thank you so much. May it bring blessings,” said one resident with teary eyes.

DT Peduli confirmed that additional support will continue to be deployed for affected communities in Aceh Tamiang, who are still facing severe limitations. As of Sunday (7 December 2025), the DT Ready rapid response team remains on the ground assisting residents. Restoring normalcy and supporting long-term recovery remain key priorities.
