GARUT – DT Peduli Garut officially launched the Gula Semut Bungbulang (Gasebu) MSME program on Friday (October 24, 2025). This initiative is part of DT Peduli’s economic empowerment efforts through small business development in Gunamekar Village, Bungbulang Subdistrict, Garut Regency.
The program is fully supported by PT Sarana Multi Infrastruktur (PT SMI), a State-Owned Enterprise (SOE) committed to promoting sustainable development and community empowerment across Indonesia.
The launch event was attended by the Subdistrict Secretary of Bungbulang, representatives from the Garut Office of Industry and Trade, the DT Peduli Garut team, and several enthusiastic program beneficiaries who are eager to start new businesses based on local potential.
The Gasebu program currently supports 13 beneficiaries, all of whom are residents of Gunamekar Village. They receive training and facilitation to develop their production of palm sugar—one of the most valuable derivative products of palm sap, with growing market demand both locally and nationally.
The program is led by Susan Mawarsari as the coordinator, who plays a key role in mobilising the beneficiaries and ensuring smooth operations in production, training, and marketing. She expressed her gratitude and optimism for the program’s long-term impact.
“We are deeply grateful to DT Peduli Garut and PT SMI for giving the people of Gunamekar the opportunity to rise and become self-reliant. Palm sugar is not just a product—it represents the hard work and unity of our community,” said Susan.
As the implementing partner, DT Peduli Garut provides continuous assistance to ensure each beneficiary acquires practical skills in palm sap processing, product packaging, and marketing strategies to compete in the modern marketplace.
Through strong collaboration between the community, DT Peduli, and PT SMI, the Gasebu MSME initiative is expected to become a successful model for community-based empowerment rooted in local potential.
