GAZA, PALESTINE – The Daarut Tauhiid (DT) Mosque in Deir Al-Balah, Gaza Strip, remains standing despite being directly impacted by an Israeli military assault on Saturday, July 19, 2025. The attack caused visible damage to the mosque structure, including shattered glass windows and bullet holes puncturing the walls from heavy-caliber fire.

Sheikh Yasin, caretaker of the DT Qur’an House in Gaza, reported directly from the scene on Tuesday, July 29, 2025. He confirmed that the mosque’s main structure remains intact and operational.

“Alhamdulillah, Allah protected the DT Mosque from the Zionist aggression. The mosque is still standing strong, and that is a great mercy from Allah,” said Sheikh Yasin.

The surrounding area, however, is in a state of devastation. Residential houses near the DT office were severely damaged, and multiple civilian casualties have been reported. Sheikh Yasin himself sustained minor head injuries from falling debris, while several residents tragically lost their lives in the same attack.

A particularly heartbreaking incident involved a young child, Sama Suleiman Abu Khasiwan, who was seriously injured in the vicinity of the mosque. She was rushed to the Al-Mawasi Field Hospital operated by the Palestinian Red Crescent. According to medical staff, her condition was critical, and her right leg had to be amputated to prevent life-threatening bleeding.

Just a day before the attack, Ustadza Wafa, a Qur’an teacher at the DT Qur’an House, along with several other residents, had already evacuated to southern Deir Al-Balah. Sheikh Yasin believes that this decision saved many lives and prevented greater tragedy.

Volunteers and local residents have begun cleaning the mosque area of debris and shattered glass. The DT Mosque in Gaza is scheduled to reopen for Friday prayers on August 1, 2025.

Established in 2015, DT Mosque has been more than just a place of worship—it has served as a symbol of Indonesian solidarity with Palestine, a Qur’anic education center, and a hub for humanitarian aid to the surrounding community.

In the face of escalating violence, the mosque remains a beacon of hope. Despite being located in an active war zone, the faith and resilience of the Gaza community continue to shine.
