Difficult Access and Thick Mud, DT Peduli Establishes Resilient Post and Serves Communities in Aceh Tamiang

Monday, 8 December 2025 | Andri Adi (Field Coordinator) | Aceh Tamiang, Aceh

ACEH TAMIANG — Hydrometeorological disasters affecting Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra continue to cause severe impacts. Based on the BNPB situation report as of 7 December 2025, Aceh has been identified as the hardest-hit area, particularly as communication access has gradually recovered and the full extent of the damage has only recently become widely known.

DT Peduli Field Coordinator Andri Adi shared the latest conditions when contacted on Monday morning (8/12/2025). According to him, fuel availability remains extremely limited across most affected areas.

“Rain is still falling with light to heavy intensity. Access to remote areas is severely hampered by mud reaching depths of up to one meter,” he explained.

He added that power outages persist, internet access remains uneven, and the need for clean water and drinking water has become the most urgent issue for residents.

DT Peduli has established a DT Ready Resilient Post (Pos Tangguh DT Ready) at Bandar Mahligai Mosque, Bandar Mahligai Village, Sekerak Subdistrict, Aceh Tamiang. From 5–7 December, various response actions were carried out, including coordination with government authorities and local communities, as well as ensuring the aid post operates effectively.

The team has activated health services and provided medical assistance to 104 local residents. Efforts to clean the mosque, improve sanitation facilities, and install clean water sources are ongoing to ensure the place of worship can be used again as soon as possible. Additionally, a community kitchen has begun operating, with the involvement of local residents.

It is estimated that around 127 households are still remaining in the village and require further data collection. As of Monday (8/12/2025), DT Peduli is prioritizing the provision of water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) facilities, the distribution of ready-to-eat meals, and door-to-door health services for residents who are unable to reach the service post.

DT Peduli is also calling for support in the form of clean water, bottled drinking water, community kitchen equipment, emergency tents, wearable clothing, diapers, and medicines.

“We are doing everything we can to ensure that all affected residents receive proper and dignified services,” Andri concluded.
