PEKANBARU — In celebration of the 97th Youth Pledge Day, DT Peduli Riau Volunteers organised a “Volunteer Go Green” movement by conducting a river clean-up activity along the Tangerang River and Batak River areas on Sunday (26 October 2025).

The event brought together 38 volunteers from various organisations and community groups, including Rumah Zakat, Energi Kebaikan Rokan, ISMKMI STIKes Maharatu, and local residents.

The Volunteer Go Green initiative aimed to raise public awareness about environmental conservation through real, on-the-ground actions. Beyond tree planting, the movement also encouraged the community to maintain cleanliness, reduce waste, and create a healthier, more sustainable environment.

Fajri, a volunteer from DT Peduli Riau, explained that the activity reflected the spirit of Youth Pledge Day, embodying young people’s social responsibility and care for nature.

“The spirit of the Youth Pledge is the spirit of togetherness. Today’s youth are tomorrow’s leaders—and good leaders begin with small, real actions to protect our environment. Grab your broom and hoe, and show that youth are the doers of the nation, not just spectators!” Fajri said passionately.
