TASIKMALAYA – In celebration of World Sight Day 2025, the Tasikmalaya Branch of the Indonesian Optometrists Association (IROPIN), in collaboration with DT Peduli Tasikmalaya, conducted a Free Eye Health Service Program at Al Wustha Hall, Padakembang, Tasikmalaya Regency, on Sunday (9 November 2025). The initiative provided eye check-ups and free eyeglasses to 100 beneficiaries in need.
The services offered included visual acuity tests, eye refraction examinations, near-vision assessments, consultations, and eye health education. Participants diagnosed with eye conditions requiring further treatment were also referred for advanced medical care.
Itmam Milataka, Head of IROPIN Tasikmalaya, emphasized the importance of protecting eyesight as a vital part of overall well-being.
“Maintaining eye health is just as important as caring for any other part of the body, because through our eyes, we are able to understand and appreciate the world around us,” he said.
Before the examinations, IROPIN conducted an educational session covering five essential tips for eye health, including the importance of regular eye check-ups at least every six months and protecting eyes from harmful UV exposure.
Also in attendance were H. Dedi Kurniawan, a local community leader, and Ira Apriatin, Head of the DT Peduli Tasikmalaya Service Office. The event is expected to have a positive and lasting impact on improving access to eye care and enhancing visual quality among communities in Tasikmalaya Regency.
