GARUT – Amid the lush green rice fields of Desa Sejahtera, a DT Peduli-assisted village in Pasirwangi District, Garut Regency, lies an inspiring story of perseverance and hope. Rohmat, a determined villager, and his wife have experienced life-changing progress through the layer chicken empowerment program initiated by DT Peduli Garut.
Before joining the program, Rohmat’s family struggled to make ends meet. His unstable income as a farm labourer often left them unable to meet daily needs. Everything began to change when DT Peduli introduced the layer chicken farming initiative. Rohmat and his wife received assistance in the form of layer hens, feed, and hands-on training on proper poultry management.
“At first, I was doubtful. But with the guidance and training from DT Peduli, I started to believe in this effort,” Rohmat said with a bright smile when met at his home on Monday (20 October 2025).
Today, his chicken coop houses eighty healthy, productive hens. Every day, Rohmat and his wife collect dozens of eggs, which they sell to local residents and nearby shops.
“Alhamdulillah, our income has increased significantly. We can now meet our family’s needs and even save for our children’s education,” Rohmat shared gratefully.
According to Sandi, DT Peduli Garut’s Program Coordinator in Desa Sejahtera, this layer chicken empowerment initiative aims to improve the community’s welfare through sustainable development.
“We hope this program continues to create long-term positive impact, especially for the residents of Desa Sejahtera,” he explained.
