BIREUEN — Efforts to assist survivors of the recent flash floods in Aceh continue. On Saturday (6 December 2025) at around 11:00 AM local time, the DT Peduli Aceh response team successfully reached Pante Baro Village in Siblah Krueng Subdistrict, Bireuen Regency—one of the worst-affected areas, with a total of 743 families impacted.
The flash floods that struck over the past several days not only inundated residential areas but also crippled road access. The village’s main connecting bridge was completely destroyed, making it extremely difficult for external aid to enter. As a result, residents became isolated and were forced to survive on limited food supplies.
Despite the challenging conditions, DT Peduli Aceh volunteers moved quickly to deliver emergency assistance, including food packages for affected families. Distribution was carried out using basic equipment, including small boats to cross the river, which remained fast-flowing and dangerous.
“Pante Baro is one of the most severely affected locations, with 743 families impacted. All access to the village is cut off, the bridge is gone, and distribution must be done using a small boat,” explained a DT Peduli volunteer on the ground.
The arrival of aid was met with emotional relief from residents who had been waiting in uncertainty. Many families lost household belongings, livestock, and some were still searching for relatives who were separated during the flood.
Although this distribution represents the first phase of emergency support, the presence of the volunteers brought a moment of comfort to the community. Dedy, a representative of Pante Baro Village, expressed his gratitude to everyone who contributed.
“We are very grateful to DT Peduli and all donors who have provided food supplies for the flood victims. This assistance means so much to us during this difficult time,” he said.
DT Peduli Aceh confirmed that further support will continue. In addition to food distribution, urgent needs such as clean water, medical services, and hygiene supplies are now top priorities.
DT Peduli is also opening wider collaboration opportunities for individuals and organizations wishing to help accelerate recovery efforts for the people of Pante Baro. Amid all limitations, the spirit of solidarity and collective action remains the community’s strongest hope for rebuilding its lives.
