KUALA LUMPUR — The International Conference on Post-Conflict Recovery and Development (ICPRD) 2025, held at the International Institute of Advanced Islamic Studies (IAIS) Malaysia, officially concluded on Sunday (7/12/2025). Over two days, the conference brought together humanitarian organisations, policymakers, academics, and development practitioners from ASEAN countries, Australia, Bangladesh, and Türkiye.
Carrying the theme “Recovery. Empowerment. Partnership.”, ICPRD 2025 served as a strategic platform for dialogue and collaboration across three key areas of post-conflict recovery: education, community empowerment, and shelter protection. Recovery efforts in Syria, Yemen, Sudan, Palestine, and the Balkan region received particular attention, with a strong emphasis on innovation and practical strategies to ensure sustainable recovery and long-term peace.
More than 100 participants attended the conference, representing governments, non-governmental organisations (NGOs), academia, youth leaders, and media professionals from Malaysia, Indonesia, Brunei Darussalam, Singapore, the Philippines, Cambodia, Thailand, Australia, Bangladesh, and Türkiye. ICPRD 2025 was designed to strengthen strategic ties between ASEAN countries and Türkiye, while also formulating actionable plans that can be implemented directly in the field.
A series of thematic sessions addressed key challenges in delivering education in conflict-affected areas, value-based learning development, skills enhancement, community capacity building, and the provision of resilient short- and long-term housing solutions that are adaptive to climate change. Key speakers included Prof. Dr Yusuf Bulutlu (Türkiye), Eng. Ahmed Al-Safarini (Qatar) and Dr Mahmoud Tallozy (Syria).
The official opening was led by Datuk Ahmad Azam Ab Rahman, Advisor for Humanitarian Affairs and Reconstruction at the Malaysian Ministry of Foreign Affairs. In his remarks, he emphasised that humanitarian assistance and recovery efforts can only be effective through cross-organisational collaboration, rather than isolated initiatives. He also described ICPRD as a catalyst for fostering a “one ummah” spirit between ASEAN countries and Türkiye in supporting conflict-affected communities.
ICPRD 2025 was jointly organised by HALUAN Malaysia, the Federal Territories Islamic Religious Council (MAIWP), IAIS Malaysia, the Malaysian Ulama Association (PUM), Wadah Pencerdasan Ummah (WADAH), as well as two humanitarian organisations from Türkiye: Toplumsal Dayanışma Vakfı and Yedicihan Uluslararası Yardımlaşma Derneği.
Safeguarding the Trust of Indonesian Donors
DT Peduli was among the Indonesian humanitarian organisations participating in the forum. President Director of DT Peduli, Jajang Nurjaman, expressed gratitude for the opportunity to take part in the ICPRD 2025 conference.
“Alhamdulillah, over these two days, DT Peduli had the opportunity to participate in the International Post-Conflict Conference. We gained many valuable insights and recommendations which, insyaAllah, will greatly contribute to the development of recovery and humanitarian programs in post-conflict countries such as Palestine, Syria, Yemen, Sudan, and other Muslim regions,” Jajang stated.
He emphasised that DT Peduli’s participation in ICPRD 2025 is part of its broader effort to strengthen global networks, ensuring that humanitarian assistance from the Indonesian people is delivered more effectively and reaches those who need it most.
“As a humanitarian organisation from Indonesia, DT Peduli is committed to continuous collaboration with partners who share the same concern, so that the trust and assistance entrusted by Indonesian donors and the global community can be delivered accurately to our brothers and sisters most in need around the world. May every effort we undertake through DT Peduli become a means of blessing and righteous deeds for us all,” he added.
Through its presence at ICPRD 2025, DT Peduli hopes to further strengthen Indonesia’s role in advancing post-conflict recovery initiatives, while ensuring that the trust of Indonesian donors is upheld and translated into tangible programs that are genuinely felt by affected communities across the globe.
