DT Peduli Distributes Aid Across Three Locations in Bireuen as Thousands Remain in Shelters

Friday, 5 December 2025 | DT Peduli Team | Bireuen, Aceh

BIREUEN, ACEH — Recovery efforts for flood-affected communities in Bireuen Regency continue as DT Peduli delivered emergency assistance across three key locations on Friday (5 December 2025). Aid distributions were carried out in Cot Ara Village in Kuta Blang Subdistrict, as well as Gampong Kuala Cerapeu and Alue Kuta Village in Jangka Subdistrict.

The distribution reached hundreds of families and thousands of beneficiaries. In Cot Ara Village, assistance covered 211 families (around 700 beneficiaries). In Gampong Kuala Cerapeu, approximately 500 beneficiaries received aid. In Alue Kuta, the distribution supported 235 families (about 875 beneficiaries).

The aid packages included rice, cooking oil, eggs, instant noodles, hygiene items, snacks, medicines, and baby diapers. All assistance was made possible through contributions from RSIA Banda Aceh, PT NEI, Konde Mart, and the Deputy Governor of Aceh.

Conditions in all three areas remain dire. A total of 40 houses were reported destroyed in Alue Kuta and Kuala Cerapeu, while 30 houses in Cot Ara were also swept away by the floodwaters. Although some residents attempt to clean their homes during the day, most are still forced to return to evacuation shelters each night as their homes remain uninhabitable.

Survivors are currently sheltering in local meunasah, evacuation posts, and village halls. Their daily meals are supplied by community kitchens operating twice a day to ensure adequate nutrition—especially for children and elderly residents.

“Thank you so much to all the donors who have shared in the suffering we’ve endured these past few days, and who have stood in solidarity with us. Our gratitude cannot be expressed in words,” said Riza Syuhada, one of the affected residents.

DT Peduli’s Deputy Director of Program, Iwan Firmansyah, who joined the distribution on the ground, reaffirmed the organization’s commitment to supporting affected families throughout the recovery phase.

“We hope this can ease the burden of our brothers and sisters impacted by the disaster. Our thanks go to all donors for their support. God willing, these acts of kindness will serve as protection from future calamities for us all,” he stated.

DT Peduli will continue to monitor developments and prepare further aid distributions based on the most urgent needs of flood-affected residents in Bireuen.
