DT Peduli Riau Distributes Food Aid and Assists in Evacuation of Victims in Garoga, South Tapanuli

Monday, 2 December 2025 | DT Peduli Riau Team | South Tapanuli

SOUTH TAPANULI — Emergency response efforts for disaster-affected residents in Garoga Village, South Tapanuli, continued on Monday (2 December 2025).

The DT Peduli team was deployed to distribute 46 ready-to-eat meal packages, along with snacks and essential daily supplies to 53 residents who remain in the affected area. The meals were prepared at the public kitchen previously established by DT Peduli.

Since early morning, volunteers moved through severely damaged neighborhoods. Residents warmly welcomed the food packages and snacks distributed by the team. The assistance is expected to help meet the immediate needs of those who have not yet been able to return to their homes.

In addition to delivering logistical aid, the team also assisted in the evacuation of a deceased victim from collapsed structures. A DT Peduli ambulance was mobilized to transport the body to a safer location.

The field coordinator from DT Peduli stated that the most urgent needs at the moment include food supplies, clean water, and continued evacuation support. The isolation of the area and rapidly changing weather conditions pose significant challenges to the distribution of aid.

“We are working to ensure that residents receive assistance as quickly as possible while also supporting critical processes such as the evacuation of victims,” the coordinator said.

By late afternoon, the team continued monitoring the area and distributing additional logistics while awaiting further instructions from the disaster response command post. DT Peduli affirmed its commitment to remain on standby in Garoga Village to ensure that humanitarian assistance is delivered safely and in coordination with relevant authorities.
