BOGOR – Saturday night (9 August 2025) became an unforgettable moment for the community of Umar bin Khattab Islamic Boarding School in Bojong Village, Kemang District, Bogor Regency. Torrential rain and lightning caused the nearby river to overflow. Thick brown floodwaters surged in, forcing the evacuation of 250 students one by one using ropes, amid the roar of rain and flashes of lightning.
A mix of panic and deep emotion filled the boarding school grounds, where students held tightly onto one another for strength.
“We could only pray that everyone would be safe,” recalled one of the school administrators.
Upon hearing the news, DT Peduli Bogor immediately mobilized to the site, bringing much-needed relief supplies including cleaning tools, rice, stoves, mattresses, food, baby essentials, soap, and other necessities. The aid was handed over directly to help ease the burden of the students and school management during their recovery period.
With teary eyes, Ustadz Khairul Muhidin, a school administrator, expressed his heartfelt gratitude:
“We are deeply thankful to DT Peduli and to all who have shown care. Amid this difficult trial, this aid feels like a light that strengthens our hearts. May Allah reward your kindness abundantly,” he said.
Although the floodwaters have receded, their marks remain visible on the dormitory walls. Yet, the spirit of the students to resume learning continues to burn brightly. DT Peduli calls on the public to unite in solidarity—helping and uplifting those affected by disasters—so they can rise again and smile once more.
