YOGYAKARTA – Joy and excitement filled the faces of 96 orphaned children during the “Joyful Shopping” program held by DT Peduli Yogyakarta on Saturday, July 19, 2025, as part of the Muharram Peduli Yatim (Muharram Care for Orphans) initiative. The event took place at Purnama Swalayan and Mulia Swalayan Godean, where the children were invited to shop for their own school supplies and personal essentials.
The program involved orphans from various orphanages around Godean, as well as non-institutional beneficiaries. Each child was accompanied by DT Peduli volunteers, ensuring they had a fun and fulfilling shopping experience tailored to their individual needs.
Aji, a chaperone from Nurani Insani Orphanage, expressed his heartfelt gratitude:
“The children were so happy and enthusiastic. Opportunities like this are rare, where they can personally choose their school needs. Thank you to DT Peduli Yogyakarta and all donors for bringing this joy to them,” he said.
Novianto, Program Manager of DT Peduli Yogyakarta, emphasized the broader impact of the program:
“Joyful Shopping is more than just providing school supplies—it’s about fostering happiness and motivation to learn among orphaned children. We hope this program continues and reaches even more beneficiaries in the future,” he shared.
Beyond meeting material needs, the program also served to strengthen public empathy and support for orphans. With the backing of generous donors, committed volunteers, and retail partners, the event ran smoothly and was filled with laughter and smiles.
DT Peduli Yogyakarta hopes this initiative continues to grow—reaching more orphans and underprivileged children, while inspiring more people to share joy and hope with those who need it most.
