SURABAYA, INDONESIA – In celebration of the blessed month of Muharram, DT Peduli Surabaya held its annual Khitan Barokah (Blessed Circumcision) program on Sunday, July 20, 2025. The event was dedicated to supporting orphans and underprivileged children, and took place at the DT Peduli Surabaya Service Office. A total of nine boys, aged between 8 and 12, from Surabaya and Sidoarjo, participated in this meaningful program.
Khitan Barokah is part of the Muharram Peduli Yatim (Muharram Care for Orphans) fundraising campaign. The program aims to provide free circumcision services to children from financially disadvantaged families. In addition to the procedure, each child also received a gift package consisting of groceries, snacks, and school supplies.
The circumcisions were carried out by Dr. Niko and a team of professional medical personnel using the Techno Sealer Lem method—a modern technique that requires no stitches and uses needle-free anesthesia to minimize pain and trauma for children.
“In shaa Allah, the method we’re using today causes very little pain. We don’t use injections for the anesthesia, and the healing time is quick—usually within one day, or up to 3–7 days at most. The aftercare is simple. The child can bathe normally, even with soap, but should refrain from swimming or playing football for a while,” said Dr. Niko reassuringly.
A heartwarming moment came from Airlangga, the first child to undergo the procedure. With a cheerful face, he encouraged his friends by saying:
“Gak loro, rek. Paling mek koyok di cokot semut cilik”
(“It doesn’t hurt, guys. Just feels like a tiny ant bite.”)
This program reflects DT Peduli’s commitment to caring for orphans and vulnerable children, and its dedication to delivering meaningful and sustainable social services. The team hopes that this spirit of giving continues to grow and inspires more people to care for one another.
