TASIKMALAYA – A bright Sunday morning (July 20, 2025), coinciding with 23 Muharram 1447 Hijriyah, welcomed the cheerful smiles of dozens of orphans in front of the DT Peduli Tasikmalaya office.
That day became a truly special occasion. Unlike their usual routine of spending time at home or at the orphanage, around 80 orphaned children had the opportunity to visit Plaza Asia, the largest shopping mall in Tasikmalaya, to fulfill their personal needs.
This initiative, titled “Muharram Care for Orphans”, was carried out under the slogan: “Bringing Smiles to Earn Allah’s Help.”
To make the experience even more joyful, DT Peduli provided three “Ngulisik” buses — special city tour buses — to transport the children. Along the ride, the children laughed and marveled at the sights of the city, many of them experiencing this for the very first time.
Upon arrival at Plaza Asia, the children were warmly welcomed by the mall’s management. More than just a shopping trip, Plaza Asia also prepared special door prizes, adding even more excitement to the day.
The children entered the supermarket with beaming faces, selecting items they needed — from their favorite snacks and fresh fruits to hygiene products and school supplies.
After shopping, the happiness continued with a communal lunch prepared by the organizing team. The children sat together and joyfully enjoyed their meals. Additionally, each child received financial assistance to take home as extra support.
Ira Apriatin, Head of DT Peduli Tasikmalaya Branch Office, expressed deep gratitude to all the donors who made the program possible.
“This activity is part of our annual Muharram tradition. A heartfelt thank you to all our donors who made it possible for us to bring happiness to these orphans during this blessed month,” said Ira, her eyes welling up as she looked at the children’s genuine smiles.
The donations came from a wide range of supporters, including Azad Textile, Catering Dapur Ibu Muni, Orbita Optical, Pegadaian Tasikmalaya, DT Print, Garuda Food, and Givsmile.id, Siloka Coffee, and Kopitiam 242.
Asep Efri Yusuf, Promotions and Events Staff at Plaza Asia Tasikmalaya, also shared his joy in welcoming the children.
“We are very happy DT Peduli brought the children here. Events like this have been regularly held at Plaza Asia. We also run social programs during our anniversary and monthly outreach for orphans, the poor, the elderly, and local foundations in Tasikmalaya,” he explained.
He also gave an encouraging message to the children:
“Keep your spirits high in your studies. Your journey is still long, and we hope that someday you will become successful individuals who bring benefit to many others,” he concluded with heartfelt hope.
That day wasn’t just about shopping — it was about planting seeds of hope, sharing comfort through aid, and bringing smiles to children navigating life without their parents.
